For the first time, I have read something that truly represents what I have felt about productivity tools and my own behavior.
Bottom line is, if I don't want to be productive, nothing can make me productive. All the commitment contracts, software, accountability coaches, AI, systems such as GTD etc won't work if I don't have the drive to do something.
We need a reason to be productive and to be driven. If we do not have that reason, then don't waste time and money on these tools.
Don't get me wrong though. I think they add quite a bit of value once we're above the avg drive, but until then, the more important attribute is to fix our own drive rather than relying purely on tools.
